Erin Feeney, Internship Program Manager

Born and raised in New Canaan, Erin never anticipated finding natural resources work in her own hometown. Her path towards a career in conservation has taken some interesting turns over the last decade. During this time, she has pursued many seasonal opportunities in state-level policy, community food systems, organic agriculture, sustainability, teaching, and volunteer service in more than a dozen states and several countries. These varied experiences have given Erin a well-rounded, hands-on education as a true generalist with insight into issues facing rural and urban communities alike, and a whole systems approach to problem-solving.

Currently Erin is working towards technical degrees in Natural Resources and Wildland Fire at Fox Valley Technical College in Wisconsin, where she is learning how to fell trees, regenerate habitats with prescribed burning, and calculate latitude and longitude by hand, among other things. She is excited to come back to New Canaan this summer to work for the Land Trust and have the opportunity to put her skills and knowledge to good use as the Internship Program Manager. In her time off this summer, you will most likely find her at Gelatissimo (where she used to work), visiting friends and family, or checking out local farms.
