Legacy of the Land is a special evening for the community to come together to celebrate the New Canaan Land Trust and pay tribute to one of its most devoted champions, Chris Schipper.

This year’s celebration honors Chris, whose extraordinary dedication has shaped the Land Trust, and our community, in lasting ways. From protecting open space and stewarding natural resources, to opening Land Trust preserves to the public and helping create more than 6.5 miles of scenic walking trails, Chris’s impact is felt throughout New Canaan. He also led the revitalization of the Bristow Bird Sanctuary, the third-oldest bird sanctuary in the United States, and as former Chair of the New Canaan Conservation Commission, has been instrumental in advancing conservation initiatives town-wide.

In recognition of his remarkable legacy, the Land Trust will present Chris with the Jack Gunther Legacy Award, a fitting tribute, as Jack Gunther founded Land Trust, and Chris helped usher it into a vibrant new era.

The Legacy of the Land Celebration is currently at capacity and we are accepting requests to join the waitlist. Email info@NewCanaanLandTrust.org.
