Native and Invasive Plant Walk: “Learn Your Land” Series
September 15 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pmFree
New Canaan’s woodlands are full of hundreds of species of trees, flowers, and other plants. While many of these species have been here for millennia, some were brought to New England in the last few decades, and have begun wreaking havoc on our natural ecosystems. Join New Canaan Land Trust board members Catharine Sturgess and Susan Bergen, for a look into how these native and invasive plants interact with one another, and change the dynamics of New Canaan’s habitats and ecosystems. Participants will learn to identify some of the common invasive plants in our region, and take away tips for managing them on their own properties.
Participants should wear sturdy shoes, and be prepared to walk on wooded, sometimes uneven, terrain.
This event is co-sponsored by the New Canaan Library. Please register using the link, below.
If the 12pm to 1:30pm time slot reaches capacity, an over-flow session will be offered from 1:30pm to 3pm.
